Modern tropical style home nestled along the Dolphin Coast

have designed this modern tropical style residence, which is located along an enviable strip of coastline called the Dolphin Coast, South Africa. Consisting of a comfortable 6,996 square feet (650 square meters) of living space, the design of this home is based on a wingspread type of architecture.

This style originates from notable architect Frank Lloyd Wright, who designed a home around this core concept. It essentially begins with the living room as the core of the home, with four wings extending from it. These wings create four living zones, as can be seen in the design of this particular home.

The wings of the home appear to hover over the native vegetation, maximizing the sweeping views over the large expanse of scenic coastline. A spacious and open floor plan emphasizes the home’s spectacular surrounding vistas from seemingly every angles. Walls of glass fold away to reveal a visually seamless indoor-outdoor connection. Outdoor living spaces are an extension of the interior spaces, with an expansive swimming pool that provides a place to cool off on a hot day.

The interiors showcase the architects work with several futuristic elements throughout. This includes an angled off shutter concrete feature wall in the front entryway. A concrete column helps to support the second level cantilevering out to not only take further advantage of the views, but to create a dramatic architectural statement. The swimming pool also cantilevers out towards to the ocean, a purposeful design to create a feeling of movement.

What We Love: This modern tropical home showcases a dramatic mix of unique architectural styling with eye-catching interior design. The cantilevered second story is very dramatic and purposeful, enhancing not only the aesthetics, but the views out towards the ocean. The interiors are sleek and stylish and seem to flow effortlessly from one space to the next. The indoor-outdoor flow is the same way, a connection in perfect unison.

Readers, please share with us your thoughts on the style of this home. Do you like the design of the architecture or the interior styling of the home?

i don’t like this place AT ALL! the interior has a kind of “fabulous fifties” look about it. no way would i want to live in a joint like this. how much money did they waste on this thing? from the last 2 exterior photos, the place looks like a howard johnson’s restaurant.
