Gorgeous Spanish Colonial style renovation in San Francisco

This 1930s Spanish Colonial style abode is the dream home of designer Maria Haidamus, owner of . Located in San Francisco, California, this stunning residence showcases architectural elements salvaged from a Spanish Monastery.  worked with the designer on the renovation of this home.

Highlights of the inviting interiors includes vaulted ceilings, iron railings and exposed wood beams. “The design selections were made to highlight the architectural details. To help preserve the integrity of the home instead of competing with it”, states the designer.

The designer was mindful of her creativity, putting the needs of creating a family home at the forefront. The design also needed to cater to entertaining guests, so it was essential that it be comfortable and livable. The aesthetics were important to the designer, who wished to achieve a careful balance of old world meets paired-back California style.

Simple white walls allows the architecture to breathe. While furnishings are clean-lined and comfortable. The neutral wall color serves as an ideal backdrop to the layering of textures and finishes throughout. The home is decorated with cherished finds from travels abroad. While touches of Mediterranean-inspired hues can be seen around every turn.

Above: A detailed, hand drawn map of Paris is the focal point of the wall space, something the designer picked up at a flea market while on a trip to France. The artwork was the first thing she had purchased for the home, after this, the rest of the design scheme just fell into place.

The island was custom designed by the interior designer to seat all five of her family members. Every detail was carefully noted — from the pendant light fixtures to fabric selections. This is the place where they entertain, cook, eat, spend quality family time and even where the children do their homework.
