Breathtaking courtyard house offers serene views over Lake Washington

Designed for a family of five by , this beautiful contemporary courtyard house is nestled along Lake Washington, Seattle. This is a dream home for the owners, who envisioned a lakefront property with sweeping views of Mount Rainier and indoor spaces that flowed outside. This home features four bedrooms, three bathrooms and two half bathrooms, in addition to a media and exercise room.

The entrance to this lakefront property is through a serene courtyard, which offers ample privacy. The design team removed most of the main floor structure, while opening the main living spaces out to expansive terraces, lush gardens and panoramic vistas. Suspended ceilings, expansive windows and lift-slide doors creates an indoor-outdoor connection and frames views of both the lake and mountains in the distance.

On the street side of the home, the architects devised a series of screens to add visual interest to the exterior facade, while also providing privacy. A wall of wood siding offers the homeowners privacy at the street level, while a wall of glass opens the home out to the lushly landscaped courtyard. Deep roof overhangs helps to protect the windows and siding from the regions wet climate.

What We Love: This contemporary courtyard house offers plenty of privacy where needed, natural light and fantastic views, a true dream home. The extensive use of glass provides a very modern yet warm feeling with the mix of wood, bringing the outdoors in. This home is elegant yet understated with clean lines and a beautiful display of materials—the design team has nailed all of the details to perfection! …Readers, please share your thoughts, would this be your idea of a dream home?

What a wonderful home. I love the green channel glass. Do you have a source for it? It would be a great addition to our home plans! Thanks for your ideas and help.
