Delightful countryside getaway in England with inviting interiors: Mill House

The Mill House was designed by British interiors studio , located in Wiltshire, a county in South West England, United Kingdom. The home was originally a working farm, a heritage property that was worth preserving due to it’s distinctive character. Although the material elements of this home are quite traditional, the layout is very unconventional. It was shaped over time, with various outbuilding connected to create a sprawling, u-shaped structure; all of the rooms overlook a central courtyard.

The family is a couple with a young daughter who were looking for an idyllic countryside retreat to host their family as well as guests. The home was love at first sight, yet the interiors needed to be transformed into an inviting space that reflected the homeowners design style.

The challenge of this renovation project entailed creating an identity that would fuse together the disparate parts into a whole. This was achieved by creating a classic and elegant design scheme, along with “well-timed juxtaposition of certain raw features, including exposed timber,” states the designer. Bespoke furnishings were custom designed to fit the unique footprint of this gorgeous seven bedroom, six bathroom home.

The original footprint was left intact, with no new additions tacked onto the structure. However, the homeowners did wish to completely transform the interior living spaces to cater to their lifestyle needs. The color scheme reflects soft grays, warm stone, soothing mauves and dusty pinks.
