Coastal style home in North Carolina showcases inviting living spaces

This stunning Captain’s House was designed by as an Idea House for Coastal Living Magazine, located in River Dunes, a maritime-inspired community on North Carolina’s Inner Banks. To commemorate the magazine’s 10th Anniversary, they asked the architects to design a present-day interpretation of the stately historic homes that dot the Eastern Seaboard. “Captain’s Watch rises over Grace Harbor and the yachts and sailboats that flock to its protected inland marina,” states the architects.

The design team studied historic fishing villages and old seaports to set the foundation for the architectural style, in their mind’s eye envisioning a home that may have once belonged to a venerable sea captain. Topped by a crow’s nest, the three-story residence epitomizes nineteenth century coastal design, while sustainable materials, updated finishes, and an open floor plan firmly root it in the twenty-first century.

The interiors scheme takes a cue from the home’s seaside setting, offering a serene palette of ocean blues and greens. It is so hard to look at your site anymore. Practically every single photo you have for a home is alternated with a terrible add, many of which move or rock, or are repeated multiple times for a single house fractured!! I have loved and “pinned” many of your photos or entire homes, but now, after scrolling through so many adds, I often stop looking at a home, or I delete the e-mail before even looking at it because the experience is no longer fun — it’s irritating.
