Welcoming Utah residence boasts astounding views of Mount Timpanogos

This beautiful transitional style home was built by and interior designed by , located in Red Ledges, a luxury master-planned community in Heber City, Utah. Encompassing almost 6,000 square feet of living space, this home features three bedrooms, four-and-a-half baths, an office, and a future bunk room. The Haystack Mountain Drive Residence was submitted to us by the designer, Tonya Olsen, who has provided an eloquent description of the project. Continue through the home tour below for all of the details!

“My clients came to me from Florida and wanted a mountain retreat where they could ski, enjoy the outdoors and spend quality time as a family. They wanted the space to feel cozy, warm and inviting in contrast to their bright modern Florida home. Their home backs up to a park with breathtaking views of Mount Timpanogos. The oversized picture window in the living room perfectly frames the serene view. We decided early on to make the view the focus rather than the interior details.”

“The great design details such as hand scraped beams, custom cabinets and tailored window treatments complement the casual furniture, simple décor and overall feel of each space.”

“The homeowners were very trusting of me during the design process. Since they lived out of state, we made most of the finish and design selections within a few meetings while they were in town. We chose a warm color palette and tried to stay with colors in the mid-tone range. They didn’t want anything too dark or too light, or too brown or too gray.”

“There was an awkward space under the stairs that we decided to make functional. Because the homeowners like to entertain, we converted that space into a wet bar with open shelving.”

“We chose a lot of upholstered pieces such as the headboard, the sofa and even the nightstands in the bedroom to create a soft, cozy feel for the space. The fireplace wall has a barn wood surround which ties into the barn wood on the stairway landing.”

What We Love: This inviting Utah residence offers a spacious and open layout with stylish furnishings and accessories. The overall aesthetic is warm and welcoming, with interior living spaces that effortlessly flows both visually and spatially. A neutral color palette helps to not detract from the surrounding views of the rugged mountains in the distance. We are especially loving the light-filled living room with its floor-to-ceiling stone clad fireplace, double volume ceiling and large windows.
