Dream House Tour: Beautiful Contemporary Ranch House in Napa Valley

Overlooking the Carneros wine region in Napa, California, this beautiful ranch house was designed by  along with . This project included a 400-acre working ranch with several outbuildings. A 16,000 square foot main house includes three kitchens and two master bedroom suites along with a pool house—this took five years to complete. The project also included a 6,000 square foot barn and machine shed.

Upon further research of this project, it was reported on Architectural Digest that this newly finish dream house was obliterated by a wildfire that swept through just last year. The owners themselves had just narrowly escaped the October 2017 Nuns Fire. They are prepared to start again from scratch—using the same project team from their original home. It is amazing how something so beautiful is no longer here, but we still wanted to share with you this inspiring project.

This home’s casual but elegant style was well-suited for the wide open spaces of the working cattle ranch that it sat on. The design’s board and batten siding with standing seam metal roof offered country farmhouse styling, while the six lift-and-slide doors throughout the main house invited a harmonious connection to the outdoors.

What We Love: This stunning ranch house offers great attention to detail in both the interior and exterior living spaces. A mix of rustic and contemporary elements made this home cozy and inviting. The owners are planning to rebuild in exactly the same fashion and we can’t wait to feature their new home here when it is completed. We would love to hear your thoughts on the design and if you have ever experienced or know someone who has experienced the loss of their home in this tragic way.

The patio kitchen beside the infinity edge pool and the multiple spas, beckoned residents and guests to take in the vistas while at leisure. 16- x 12-foot barn doors were featured on the home’s attached garage. Accessing the site required creating a 3/4 mile road.
