Contemporary Texas residence with warm and inviting design features

This contemporary home was designed for a family of four by and built by , located in Austin, Texas. The goal for the design of this family home was to open the living environment up to its natural surroundings. The residence is composed of 3,700 feet of living space, with four bedrooms, three-and-a-half bathrooms.

The design consists of interlocking linear, rectangular forms using local gray Leuders limestone, white integral color stucco, Douglas Fir siding, steel and glass. The composition, relative to the gently sloping site, creates opportunities to experience outdoor living spaces that are direct extensions of the interior rooms. The interior has an edited palette of materials to include Walnut floor, vertical grain White Oak paneling and cabinetry, Limestone tile and steel.

What We Love: This beautiful contemporary home was designed to take advantage of the property’s existing Live Oak trees and sloping lawns. Indoor/outdoor living is emphasized throughout the design, drawing in natural light and nature. The landscape design offers the family several peaceful views from different vantage points throughout the house… Readers, please tell us what you think of the overall design of this home in the Comments below!
