Charming countryside home in Mill Valley gets inspiring transformation

countryside-home-exterior

This beautiful countryside home has been completely transformed by G.P. Schafer Architect, located in Mill Valley, a city in Marin County, California. A couple with two young children relocated from New York City to the San Francisco Bay Area, after purchasing this 3,800 square foot home. The architects helped the family to realize their vision of renovating and expanding their countryside dream home.

The client’s sought to retain the original 1870’s cabin elements they had fallen in love with at the core of the house. The project team completely rebuilt the structure, maintaining the cabin feel while creating a new family room and bedrooms on the lower level and a new central staircase, all designed to fit within the original fabric of the existing house.

Love, love, love the rustic charm. The colors are beautiful. So lived in. Mill Valley is such a fun town. You never know from the street what you’re going to get in the house. This is magnificent!

Love the house! The shiplap and dutch doors are beautiful feaures. Great architecture. Not so crazy about the furnishings though and can someone please straighten out the purposely uneven blinds! So distracting. The gardens are are also awesome. This definitely could be my dream home if it was decorated differently.

Only one strong dislike. The dead animal parts on the walls! So barbaric. This trend brings me cramps on my stomach. In my opinion it ruins a dreamy house!

Teri

I love those blinds! Any idea where I can buy something like that?

Lynne

I love the blinds on the french doors too! Would love to know where to purchase some like them.
