Fabulous house with a mountain modern aesthetic on Lake Minnetonka

was responsible for this incredible home with a mountain modern aesthetic, located on Lake Minnetonka, Minnesota. The goal of this project was to combine the open feel of a desert home with the coziness of a mountain lodge, infused with a modern twist. This project was met with design constraints, which included a narrow lot on the street side and restrictions from severe bluff setbacks on the lake side. With clever design ideas, the project team was able to mitigate all design constraints to create a stunning home with a harmonious layout and maximized views. was responsible for the exquisite interior design and furnishing selections throughout the interiors. Their goal was to create a rustic contemporary, dog-friendly residence that brings the outside in through a thoughtful floor plan layout that caters to entertaining. Not only did the interior spaces need to relate to the outdoors, the designers were challenged with combining the homeowners’ two distinct design styles to create a sophisticated design scheme with durable furnishings.

Above: The Foyer walls are 20’-9” and ceiling vaults at 10/12 pitch up to a height of 27’-4”. The ceiling/soffit wood is 1×6 v-groove clear, vertical grain cedar.

What We Love: This amazing home offers a mountain modern aesthetic, achieved through the use of rustic design mixed with contemporary, sleek furnishings. There is plenty of warmth integrated throughout this modern home thanks to the use of materials of wood and stone, which also helps to relate the interiors to the outdoors.

Note: Have a look at another home tour that we have we have featured here on Fitflopsale-Singapore from the portfolio of the architects of this project, Eskuche Design: Avant Garde Retreat on Lake Minnetonka by Eskuche Design.

Above: The living room ceiling is 1″ x 6″ tongue and groove select cedar with a natural stain. The floor plan was designed to maximize views throughout the interiors. The views are the focal point to the rooms, blurring lines between indoors and out. For entertaining, seating was maximized throughout the main level. Walkways were kept open for ease of flow. Durable, stain-resistant fabrics were selected on all furnishings.

Above: Marvin Ultimate Lift and Slide doors were placed along the dining, kitchen, and family room. These floor-to-ceiling windows recede into the home’s walls and include full screen protection.

Above: The stone used on the columns is from Montana, called Chief Cliff. The rust colored stones were filtered out to some degree so it is a custom variation/blend.
