Fishing cabin offers a cozy retreat on Colorado’s Gunnison River

Designed by Coburn Design Build this fishing cabin provides a wonderful retreat shared by three generations, nestled on the Gunnison River, Colorado. The 2,100 square foot, three bedroom, two-and-a-half bathroom cabin mixes modern comforts with a style and attitude steeped in history. This cabin was designed to feel like it had been on the property for centuries. Luxurious outdoor living spaces offer plenty of amenities to relax, entertain and enjoy the rushing river.

This ranch is idyllic for fisherman, as one can put on their waders on the porch and walk just a few steps down to the river to cast a fly rod. Afterwards, one can head back up to the house, hang up their gear, rinse off in the outdoor shower and grab a cold beer —never setting foot inside the house! The family enjoys this home by taking turns or visiting together as a larger group, with bunk beds comfortably accommodating up to eight overnight guests. Take a tour below to see how fantastic this place is…

What We Love: The architects did a fantastic job of creating a family retreat to relax, dream and build wonderful memories. We love that this fishing cabin is a new home that has all the character of one that’s been there for many years. There is so much personality in the design. The surroundings are beautiful and tranquil, we could just imagine what a delight it would be to spend time here gathering with family.

Tell Us: What details in the design most appealed to you and why in the Comments below, we love reading your back!

Above: This part of the porch was purposely designed to be rustic due to the nature of its use. An outdoor shower is used for rinsing off after fishing in the river, while a vintage sink is for washing hands and gear. There are racks and hooks for hanging up fishing equipment, while a red cooler is stocked with beer.
